    Four Wheel Drive Training Overview

    This unit covers the planning, preparation, operation, and maintenance of four-wheel drive vehicles. Participants learn how to identify driving conditions, perform vehicle inspections, select the appropriate gear and techniques, and recover vehicles safely if bogged or immobilised. The training also focuses on environmental awareness and vehicle care to minimise impact on natural terrain.

    Certification

    Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for: RIIVEH305F – Operate and Maintain a Four Wheel Drive Vehicle, a nationally recognised unit of competency from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

    By completing RIIVEH305F, you will learn how to:

    • Conduct routine pre-start and safety checks

    • Operate a four-wheel drive vehicle in varied conditions

    • Use correct 4WD techniques for ascending, descending, and traversing

    • Perform basic maintenance and repairs

    • Recover a bogged vehicle using recovery equipment safely

    • Identify hazards and manage environmental risks

    Entry Requirements

    Participants must:

    • Hold a current and valid driver’s licence

    • Be physically capable of performing driving and maintenance tasks

    • Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during training

    • Supply of a Roadworthy and Registered 4WD vehicle
