EWP over 11m VOC is a formal assessment that verifies the competency of personnel operating boom-type elevated work platforms (EWP) that exceed 11 meters in height. It’s designed for workers who already hold a valid High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL WP class) and need to demonstrate their ability to perform safely in real-world conditions. This assessment ensures operators: Understand EWP operations Can identify and control hazards Know emergency procedures Operate machinery to national safety standards
Holding a license isn’t enough. Regulations and workplace policies often require current VOC as proof that the operator can: Perform tasks relevant to the specific EWP model Adapt to new job site conditions Follow site-specific safety procedures Maintain skills through ongoing use
A professional EWP VOC assessment will evaluate:
Risk assessment procedures
Safe work method statements (SWMS)
Pre-start inspections and logbook use
Emergency descent operations
Platform stability and safe elevation
Maneuvering in tight spaces or complex environments
Use of harnesses and fall prevention gear
Construction and infrastructure workers
Maintenance technicians
Tree trimming and sign installation crews
Electrical and telecommunication workers
Facility maintenance staff
Event rigging and production crews
If your role requires you to operate an EWP at height, especially boom-type lifts exceeding 11 meters, you must prove your current competency before stepping onto a platform.
